Loyalty: (def.) A wife who agrees to wear your new dress shoes around the house for you to stretch them in so you don't get blisters, and also to have her photo taken and placed on the internets in said shoes.

With thanks to everyone for your support (and especially the best partner in the world that one could ever, EVER, ask for, oh instrumental-to-my-very-existence Carolynn), I'm off to Philly and NJ. Unless Carolynn posts, the blog will be dark for a couple of weeks (like this hasn't happened before), but hopefully there'll be lots of news on my return.

Terrorist Doctors

This makes me extremely nervous. Apparently our publicly-funded health care system makes us extremely vulnerable to terrorist doctors, hiding in the dark corners of our bureaucracy (likely with heavy weaponry).

3 more

Here's a couple more...

These ones are already in the wedding-slide-show folder:

Time Flies...

Well, Canada Day has again come and gone. Personally I think July 1 should be re-declared New Year's Day, but anyway. Here is how Evan looked one year ago on Canada's 139th birthday:

And here he is today:

Here are some pictures from our weekend away in Tuwanek, just north of Sechelt. We had a great time with our friends Brian and Erin and Evan the First, over at Team McCropp.

I finally captured this on film.

Throwing rocks at the beach. Our favourite thing these days. Well, next to throwing rocks in the storm drain. And in the water fountain.

Beach bum

Evan & Evan discovering their feet last July 1.

And here they are today eating sand-covered graham wafers.

And finally, an image of mom, who changed her first ever flat tire all by herself this past Monday! Congratulations Carolynn! Honestly, she did such a great job. Look for her and Jack at the side of a road near you.

New cousin...

Evan's new cousin Mya Newcombe was born at 9:19 on July 2, 2007 at Peace Arch! Welcome Mya, and congratulations to proud parents Ricky and Jodi! Mom and babe are both doing well - look how peaceful she looks!

Recovered and well

Thanks to those of you who wrote or called to ask about Evan's surgery today. If you didn't know about it, you're not alone - it was a relatively minor procedure and we haven't talked a lot about it. Evan went in today to have his tear duct probed as it was blocked (apparently a fairly common occurrence). Anyway, this involved him being anesthetized for about 20 minutes, which had his dad pretty nervous, but, apparently, not him.

All went fine - he had a blast playing in the playroom at Children's before the procedure, and he tolerated the anesthetic well. He's a little wobbly on his feet, but is this afternoon running around smiling like a drunkard, having forgotten about his experience. Apparently the only time he cried was when he saw another baby getting baby-tylenol and he wanted some too.

Ahh, to be a baby eh?
